Online Icon Painting Course: Mary and Child

from $99.00

Learn the sacred art form of icon painting in our immersive course, where you will delve into the timeless depiction of the Eleusa—Mary and Child. The Eleusa, derived from the Greek words for tenderness and showing mercy, captures the essence of the Virgin Mary cradling the infant Jesus against her cheek. In Western traditions, it is often referred to as the Virgin of Tenderness.

This course, spanning 10 hours of video demonstrations, invites participants with no prior experience to embrace the intricacies of icon painting. Guided by the authentic voice of our instructor, every step—from the basics to the advanced techniques—will unfold in real time. Video recordings ensure that the learning journey continues beyond each session.

Key Highlights:

  • Authentic Techniques: Learn the ancient art of egg tempera painting, using dry pigments and egg yolk emulsion, applied in the Russian school of iconography.

  • Deeper Connection: Rediscover and reconnect with the deeper facets of your creative self in this enriching process.

  • Symbolism of Icons: While the term "icon" translates to "image" in Greek, it transcends mere visuals. Icons communicate directly to our senses, evoking profound responses.
